San Antonio Sports. Dreams For Youth is an Olympic athlete development program that provides access to sports for thousands of underprivileged youth in San Antonio every year. San Antonio Sports created Dreams For Youth with the realization that sports can be a vehicle that changes lives and creates unique opportunities for children everywhere. The program also offers constructive athletic experiences that place youth on a path to greater athletic and personal achievement.
Currently, Dreams For Youth provides training in six Olympic sports: badminton, gymnastics, fencing, swimming, diving, and volleyball. The program reaches an ethnically and economically diverse population and creates access to quality coaching, facilities, equipment, and competitions that are necessary for maximizing the athletic talents and abilities of area youth. In addition, these opportunities challenge participants to experience life beyond their neighborhoods.
While equal participation opportunities for underprivileged youth is the program’s principal purpose, great emphasis is placed on sportsmanship. School attendance and grades are tracked for increased and improved performance. Through Dreams For Youth, dedication, commitment, and teamwork are just a few skills that the youth obtain that easily transcend the playing field to other paths of life.
